In the treatment of conditions where a reduction of gastric acid secretion is required, such as duodenal ulcer: gastric ulcer reflux esophagitis including patients with Barrette’s esophagus, and patients poorly responsive to an adequate course of therapy with histamine H2- receptor antagonists: pathological hypersecretory conditions including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome eradication of H. pylon. In patients with a recent history of duodenal ulcers who are H. pylon positive eradication therapy may reduce the rate of recurrence of duodenal ulcers. The optimal timing for eradication therapy for such patients remains to be determined
Contra-Indications: In patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation Amoxicillin is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any penicillin. Clarithromycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clarithromycin erythromycin or other macrolide antibacterial agents. Clarithromycin is also contraindicated in patients receiving concurrent therapy with astemizole, tertenadine, cisapride or pimozide.
