Pharmedic was established in 1982 under the able leadership of Iftikhar A. Sheikh, the company’s founder.

The evolution of Pharmedic is a Saga of hard work, dedication and commitment to serve humanity by providing high quality medicine at an affordable price. A small building in Lahore was the initial plant of the company. Here, the founder, driven by enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit, started production by using his knowledge and experience in the field of analgesics.

With the advent of modern civilization man learnt to use the knowledge and experiences of the preceding generations and this led to the creation of the art of Medicine and Pharmacology.

Pharmedic is committed to act ethically in all its business dealings, meeting the requirements of Pakistan’s law and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan’s (DRAP) regulations. We believe that a clear and integrated approach to ethics, good governance, risk and compliance are essential to further our integral values and perform responsibly in the industry. Pharmedic is focused on honesty, integrity and the highest standards of transparency and accountability as evident through our internal whistleblowing policy and procedure.

Pharmedic has a three step ethics program which includes the following;

Prevention:

To prevent compliance issues from arising in the first place, we focus on promoting a culture of ethics and integrity. We do this through creating a culture of compliance throughout our company, and through our Standards of Business Conduct, policies, and training, while also using data analytics, risk assessment, proactive investigations, third party vetting, and other compliance efforts to minimize potential risks.

Detection:

We detect potential compliance issues in several ways, including testing by our Internal Audit group, monitoring through our compliance analytics program and by our Controls and Compliance teams, investigating concerns reported by employees and others, and analyzing trends through our Office of Legal Compliance. Compliance is a team effort at Pharmedic. Every employee is responsible for upholding our standards, fostering the culture of compliance in their team and partners, and reporting
concerns.

Rectification:

We assess the root cause of problems, and continually enhance our controls and processes to minimize the risk of recurrence. This process is a core component of our compliance program and growth mindset culture. We discipline employees who violate our policies and standards, regardless of their level, and we stop doing business with partners and suppliers who don’t meet our ethical standards.

These steps enable us to maintain ourselves as an organization which cares for its people and consumers to the extent that we do our best to meet what others expect of us.
